World Soccer Semi-finalists Croatia Heavily Defeated by Spain

Zagreb, September 12 (CNW) – Croatia has suffered a 6-0 thrashing from its opponent Spain in Elche, in last night’s UEFA Nations League match, the first time it had played a competitive match since coming second in the world a few months ago.

The Croatian team was deeply distressed following Tuesday evening’s game and not a single player was ready to face the cameras following the game.

The humiliating defeat comes as several Croatia’s top players involved in the recent World Cup success decided they no longer wanted to play for the national squad and would give a chance to younger players to represent the country.

The Spanish team managed three goals in 11 minutes of the first-half, shaking Croatia’s confidence which it never regained in the match allowing the Spaniards to score three more before the game’s end.
This was Croatia’s worst defeat in football history with a similar defeat of 5-1 happening against England at Wembley in 2009.
